The Honest Agent's Guide to REAL Broker
I'm not going to make this sound like a recruiting pitch — that's not who I am. This is just my honest experience and the real reasons I made the move to REAL Broker.
The commission split stopped making sense.
Franchise fees, miscellaneous fees, desk fees — it adds up fast. I was working hard and closing deals but a significant chunk of every commission check was going somewhere other than my pocket. At some point you do the math and ask yourself what you're actually getting in return. For me the answer stopped being satisfying. REAL Broker's model is straightforward — you keep significantly more of what you earn, and the fees that do exist make sense when you look at what you're getting.
Floor time was costing me more than it was giving me.
The real estate industry has fundamentally changed. Buyers and sellers find their agent online now — through Google, through social media, through referrals, through AI search. They are not walking into a physical office off the street. I was spending hours on floor duty waiting for foot traffic that wasn't coming, time I could have been investing in building my digital presence, sharpening my market knowledge, or actually serving clients. When I got those hours back I put them to work immediately and the difference showed.
Multiple income streams changed how I think about my business.
Most traditional brokerage models have one income source — your commission check. REAL Broker has revenue share, stock awards, and ways to build long-term wealth that go beyond your next closing. I'm not going to oversell it — it takes time and intention to build. But the structure is there and it compounds. As someone building a real business rather than just chasing transactions, that matters to me.
The technology is genuinely top shelf.
I'll be honest — I was already teaching myself a lot of this on my own. AI tools, digital marketing, online lead systems, building a real web presence — I was figuring it out because I knew the industry was moving that direction and I didn't want to get left behind. What I found at REAL is a tech stack that actually supports that mindset instead of lagging behind it. The tools are good and they keep getting better.
Is REAL Broker right for every agent?
No — and I'll say that honestly. If you're brand new and need in-office mentorship and a manager down the hall every day, REAL may not be the right fit yet. But if you're an experienced, self-directed agent who is already building your own systems, already investing in your own growth, and tired of watching fees eat into every commission check — it's worth a real conversation.
I'm licensed in both Texas and Oklahoma. I serve Northeast Texas and Southeast Oklahoma as part of The W Group at REAL Broker. If you're an agent in this area who is curious about what the move actually looks like in practice — not the sales pitch, just the real experience — reach out directly.
