✓ Start with your camera Take a before photo. Tidy, then take another from the same spot and angle.

✓ Living room Straighten the lampshade and tables, tidy the couch, fluff pillows and fold the throw. Clear mail, cups, remotes and extra knickknacks.

✓ Kitchen Clear the counters. Leave only 1–2 small items if you must. Remove papers from the fridge and empty overflowing bins.

✓ Bathrooms Tuck away toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo bottles and razors. Arrange towels neatly.

✓ Bedrooms MAKE YOUR BED! Clear the nightstands and put shoes out of sight.

✓ Pets Temporarily tuck pet beds and food bowls neatly away for photos or showings.

✓ Curb appeal Fresh mulch, pull the weeds, a wreath on the door, and a potted plant or flowers on the porch. It doesn't have to be extravagant. Make it welcoming and cozy.

✓ Finishing touches Clear entry clutter and walkways. Tidy loose cords safely. OPEN BLINDS and adjust curtains for light.
